A unique TT series on a NEW course to Arizona cycling: an out-and-back on the newly paved Park
Link Dr, which connects the I-10 Frontage Rd near Red Rock to US79. NEW Pavement, LOW traffic,
and a little elevation gain on the outbound leg to make it interesting. Why 30k? If 40k is too long, and
20k is too short, then 30k is juuuuust right... 7:00am start for all three races.
Registration for the series will be on Sportsbaseonline.com ONLY and will open on or before April 30,
2009. Riders will then be grouped by category and start lists posted by noon the Friday before each
race. Each race is $20, or get a $10 discount if you register for all three before the first race date ($50
for three races)! Juniors can register for $5 per race, with no discount for all three. Registration will
reopen for later race dates.
Traffic should be light, and race volunteers will be directing traffic at the start/finish and turnaround,
but keep in mind that the course IS OPEN so stay as far to the right as is safe and reasonable at all
times. There will be port-a-johns and an EMT on-site, plus our fabulous FREE flapjacks after the race
(better than porridge? We think so).
Don't have all that fancy aero gear, or want to time trial in the old style?? The Three Bears Series will
keep the Merckx Open category for the new-comers, old-schoolers and purists!
CATEGORIES:
Women's: 1/2, 3, 4, 35+, 45+, 55+ and Merckx Open
Mens: 1/2, 3, 4, 5, 35+, 45+, 55+, 65+ and Merckx Open
Juniors 10-14 and 15-18 (all) and Tandems (all)
PRIZES?: $1 of every entry will go into a prize pool for each category; the rider with the fastest
average time (minimum 2 races) in each category will win the pool after the third race. Bigger fields =
bigger pool, so bring your friends to the Three Bears 30k TT!
Directions to Park Link Dr: From I-10, exit at Red Rock and drive northwest on the frontage road for a
mile and a half, to Park Link Drive. This intersection is approximately 4.5 miles southeast of the Picacho TT Series Start line. Start/finish area will be approximately 5 miles east of I-10 on Park Link Drive. Please park as far off the road as
you can. The bulk of the parking is on the north side of the road/shoulder as you approach the start line from the west. Alternate access from AZ-79.
